If it is January why not take a close look at your situation.  Did anything change this year?  Get married or divorced? have a child ?  or did any of  your children leave home, or turn 17?   For individual taxpayers it is not too late to change 2011 federal income tax withholding levels to make sure they do not face any surprises when returns are due next spring 2012, but you will still have several months to save for increased taxes that would be due for example if your child is now over 16 and you no longer qualify for $1000 child tax credit.
